My name is Caleb, and I teach literature and SAT prep at a bilingual school in San Salvador. The idea for this blog started primarily as a resource for my students: I’ll post links necessary for assignments, extra-curricular exploration, and basically all things literary. But I’d love for this to be a good collaboration with other teachers and book enthusiasts as well. For example, you don’t have to be a student to love some of the mythology/hero’s journey resources I’ve posted in the “World Lit” section of the “Class Resources.” On Wednesdays you will see a “Poetry Wednesday” post that shares and highlights a specific poem. Additionally, from time to time, I will simply post about my life here in El Salvador: stories and perhaps some advice for living in a new culture.
Finally, I try to teach from a distinctly Christian worldview. What that means is–more than isolating myself or my students from the world around them–I want us to collaborate with the material in such a way that we understand how our own beliefs shape the text and, subsequently, how the text shapes us.
Also about me: I like to travel. I like coffee (and tea). I like to read. I like to write. I like peanut butter.
